| Broadwater Sailing Club is situated close to the Grand Union Canal and the River Colne, starting as a gravel pit it is now a very attractive stretch of water. The area of the lake available for sailing is nearly 1 km long and ¾ km wide, with a line of islands dotted along one side. The far end of the lake is a small nature reserve attracting water birds. Broadwater is an friendly, informal club with sailing permitted seven days a week, enabling members ranging from casual cruisers to serious racers to co-exist without problems.
Throughout the year on Sunday mornings there are two races, pursuit and handicap. During the summer months there is also a Wednesday evening pursuit race. Racing is open to all dinghy classes, though the most popular fleets are Solo, Enterprise and Laser. A full programme of events is organised throughout the year including club regattas and open events for the Solo and Enterprise Association calendars. A number of special annual events are organised, including our "Super Cup", a series with as many as eleven short races held on a single day.
