Introduction To The Cornish Crabber 17
The design of the Cornish Crabber range of boats started in 1974 when Roger Dongray designed a boat for his own use to
replace his existing day boat. Peter Keeling and Ken Roberson, owners of a dinghy building company, who were racing dinghies
with Dongray at the time were looking for a larger boat to produce. They decided that Dongray's design was suitable and so the Crabber
was born. This was the first in a line of traditional looking boats all designed by Dongray.
The Cornish Crabber 17 is an excellent entry level boat for sailing newcomers and also a fantastic nippy dayboat
for enthusiats. The compact Crabber 17' bears all the characteristics of the Cornish Crabber range. Gaff rigged
and with an internally mounted 5HP outboard motor.
The open boat can be immediately transformed into a light spacious cabin with two berths and abundant stowage,
by raising the fold-down spray-hood. She can be easily launched or retrieved single-handed from her custom built
road trailer and accommodates up to five for day sailing. As with all Select Yachts a Crabber 17 can be moulded
in your choice of colour from an immense selection and specified with your choice of extras for a truly unique
boat which holds it's value for future sales.
The standard boat comes ex factory in Cornwall, ready to sail, complete with bilge pump, canvas sprayhood on
stainless steel frame, forward cockpit cover, hinged teak cockpit seats, mainsail cover, sails and all attendant
rigging.
