Cornish Crabber Shrimper 19 Trailer Sailer / Day Boat
Introduction To The Cornish Crabber Shrimper 19
shrimper 17

The Shrimper was designed by Roger Dongray, who originally designed the Crabber range of boats. After designing the Crabber, Dongray wanted to design a boat that could be sailed single handed, be easily trailerable, had simple accommodation and was sturdy enough to handle heavy weather. The outcome of this was the Shrimper which was to become one of the UK's most successful small cruisers.

Dongray started building the boat in his garage with help from Michael Hughes. The first Shrimper was launched in 1979 and a number of others were quickly built by Hughes and a number of other enthusiasts. The Cornish Crabber company had originally dismissed the boat as being too small but after initial trials they produced a version in GRP. The first of the Cornish Shrimpers were shown at the Brighton Boat Show in 1980.

The Shrimper has a large cockpit and plenty of stowage. It is available with both inboard and outboard motor options. The cabin has two berths, a single burner stove and space for a small sink and toilet.
