The Topaz Taz provides the perfect platform for young sailors. Outstanding stability and easily controlled rig options allow youngsters to progress at their own individual pace. A choice of two simple sail options mean that the Topper Taz can be rigged to suit varying levels of competence and confidence or to cope with varied sailing conditions. An ultra simple oppie style rig for building confidence and then a traditional bermudan option is a training standard.
The 'Topaz-Style' self draining cockpit is spacious, uncluttered and comfortable. There is more than enough room for teacher and pupil to sail together without feeling cramped or restricted. An extra high boom gives an even greater feeling of space and allows the centreboard to be fitted before you go sailing meaning no more on borad gymnastics trying to get the centreboard down !
The hi-tech roto-moulded polyethylene hull is unsinkable and very strong. The hull is virtually indestructable, even against the harshest knocks and scrapes inflicted by novices. But, in the unlikely need of a repair, the workability of polyethylene makes any repairs effortless.
Other features make life easier for the Topper Taz sailor such the carry handles fitted on bow and stern for easy launching and retrieval. and stowage pouches which fit into inspection hatches for storing keys, cold drinks etc.
The Topper Taz is safe, stable and incredibly strong. Roomy enough for two sailors - an instructor and beginner or two friends can sail together in comfort. And at just 40kg, the lightweight hull is more responsive afloat and more practical ashore for young sailors. Such a lightweight hull also means the Taz is easily car-toppable.

Topper Taz Dinghy comments and advice
Fine for kids or small flexible adults who don't mind being dunked now and again. Certainly not for me.
