Topper Dinghy
The Topper dinghy is a favourite when it comes to learning to sail. Almost every club and watersports centre has at least one ! Over 50000 Toppers have now been sold. Injection moulded from polypropylene (the same material used for car bumpers), the Topper requires no maintenance.
John Driscoll (the Royal Yachting Association's Sailing Coach stated :
"The Topper dinghy has a unique place in the world of sailing instruction. It has made a greater contribution to the development of teaching techniques than any other boat in the last ten years, and its role is never likely to be challenged by any other type of dinghy."
The Topper dinghy is car-toppable (hence the name !) and can be rigged in a matter of minutes, sailed, and righted by a child. The boat is stronger and lighter than any other comparable boat and is easy to handle on the water and ashore. The Topper dinghy is virtually maintenance free and its proven track record of reliability means that resale values are sky high.
The Topper has become one of the top racing classes of it's type within the U.K. and because of it's world wide racing pedigree, it has attained full international racing status from the International Sailing Federation.

Topper Dinghy comments and advice
Hello, I have just bought a brand new dark blue topper dinghy since I have applied and got into the RYA topper zone squads. I love the boat and love sailing! GO the man/woman that invented toppers! I hope that it becomes a olympic class one day for when I am older! LOVE IT ! xx
Toppers are not just for young sailors. Adults of any age can race sail Toppers too! As a 60kg 58 year old female the Topper is the best single handed race sailing dinghy for me. The Topper dinghy is the most popular single handed race sailing dinghy for novice sailors so there are new people joining the race scene all the time. Great fun and loads of opportunities to learn, get more skilled and find new challenges. Team Granny
If you enjoy competitive sailing then join the new Topper revolution. Over the past few years the boat has undergone a transformation with center-main option and multi-purchase controls (all can be retro-fitted) and a new sail design. These combine to make it a boat that can sailed by a broader weight range in anything from a light breeze to a full on Force 7.
The class has a thriving open circuit delivering loads of training opportunities around the country and has a simply awesome circuit of events, both regional and national. The National Traveller series of events regularly sees over 200 boats and the annual National Championsnhips over 300 with a mix of ages from 8 years old through to adults. For the more adventurous there is an annual World Championship.
The Topper is also one of just two single hander RYA Pathway boats for those juniors with Olympic aspirations. It is the ideal feeder to the Youth and Olympic Laser class.
