Attenborough Sailing Club is located about 4 miles south west of Nottingham, and about 8 miles east of Derby. The club enjoys the use of 'Coneries Lagoon' (65 acres) beside the River Trent and Attenborough Nature Reserve, an area highly valued for its wildlife.
The club began life in the early 1960s and for several years was linked to the works sailing club of the Derby company International Combustion. At that time the club was situated on the River Trent in the area of Long Eaton known as "Trent Meadows" and was known as Long Eaton Sailing Club. The club moved to its present location in 1980 and adopted its present name in June 1997.
The club supports a wide number of different classes of dinghy, particularly Mirrors and Lasers. Other well supported classes are the Graduate, and Enterprise, and increasingly the Fireball, Phantom and Laser 2.
