The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 34.2 was designed by Jacques Faroux and built from 1996 to 2002. Small modifications were made each year, for example in models built from 2000 onwards there is an increased sail area due to a slightly taller mast. The yacht is a spacious family cruiser with great accommodation. The three-cabin version of the design is a popular boat for charter, so if buying one it is worth being aware this may be its history. The “owner’s” version of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 34.2 has one aft cabin with a very large berth and a large heads compartment, and the “charter” version has twin aft cabins and a smaller heads. There were two options for the keel, either the shoal draught bulbed fin or a deeper keel. The bulbed fin has more ballast than the deeper keel to compensate for the shallower draught.
The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 34.2 is airy, spacious and well-equipped. It is a popular cruising yacht and is relatively easy to handle. The yacht is popular and modern meaning that maintenance is straightforward, and if looked after it will last very well.
