There is active racing at weekends from April to December with both keelboat and dinghy classes and a more frequent programme, particularly amongst the youth and junior classes, during August. There is also an active cruiser fleet with organised events both locally, in the Thames Estuary and further afield. Members also own a number of motor boats and RIBs/sports boats of various sizes.
Classes sailed at the Club are the Dragon and Swallow (three man keelboats) the Squib, Flying Fifteen and Loch Long (two man keelboats), 2.4M (single-handed mini keelboat capable of being sailed by the disabled), RS400 (fast asymmetric two man dinghy), Laser II, Wayfarer and Lapwing (two man dinghies), Laser (single-handed dinghy) and Mirror, Topper, Junior Lapwing & Optimist (junior classes).
The Deben Yacht Club was founded in 1838, and is now a thriving and active club in the upper reaches of the River Deben. Its Clubhouse at Woodbridge is unique to the area, being built on piles at the riverside, and having fine views of the river and the sailing.
The club operates two dinghy parks and maintains a launching ramp and pontoons, providing access to the river for dinghies and small cruisers. It also administers a number of moorings adjacent to the club.
A full racing programme is organised, normally from March through to December, with Handicap racing for Dinghy and Yacht fleets, and competition is fierce with a wide range of dinghies competing. In addition a number of Open Meetings for various dinghy classes, typically Mirror, Topper, Laser and OK are held each year and attract many visitors thus giving additional competition. The Yacht fleet, apart from having the opportunity to race, also has several organised short cruises each year.

An active, friendly and welcoming sailing and motor cruising yacht club based at Suffolk Yacht Harbour at Levington on the River Orwell. The racing programme extends from early Spring to New Years Day and offers events ranging from the gentle and gentlemanly to the downright competitive, with several club boats each year flying the flag (and generally doing well) at Cowes or Cork or further afield.
We have a Squib (keelboat) fleet that keeps going through thick and thin, and generally has more races in its calendar than there are weeks in the year, and a very active and professionally-run youth section which does everything from sheltered-water dinghy tuition for the very young to real racing, via all the supporting skills-training like first aid, RYA instructorship, liferaft drill, safety boat driving and so on, not to mention a fair bit of offshore crewing in each others family cruisers and (of course) the occasional party.
