Northamptonshire Sailing Clubs
Banbury Sailing Club was formed in 1950 when a small group of people met in a pub in Banbury and formed the club to start sailing on Boddington Reservoir. The Club is open to all including keen racers, family sailors and beginners to sailing. We sail on Boddington Reservoir which is some 90 acres in extent set in attractive, unspoilt countryside some 7 miles north of Banbury. Classes with fleet status are: Merlin Rocket Laser GP14 Solo and Comet. All other boats sail in the Menagerie fleet. A wide range of other dinghies are accepted into the Menagerie fleet and the wide range of boats sailed means that everyone from the keen racer through the family sailor to the absolute beginner can find a boat to suit them.
Cransley sailing club is located in an idyllic valley just a few minutes from Kettering in Northamptonshire. The 40 acre reservoir is in a peaceful location with an abundance of wild life. We pride ourselves on being a small, friendly club and have a large number of family members. We also have an increasing number of youth members who have been introduced to sailing through our training group. The club has a number of training dinghies ( Toppers, Picos, GP14 and Enterprise) that, though primarily used for training purposes, are available for club members to use. The club also has an active social calendar with regular events for sailors and non-sailors to get together. Races are held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and Tuesday evenings. The club also takes part in several inter-club racing events throughout the year.
We offer great dinghy sailing and windsurfing and excellent facilities at very attractive subscription rates. The Club caters for sailors of all abilities, and is particularly proud of its Junior membership and youth squad which meets regularly throughout the season. Hollowell Reservoir is set in an attractive valley in the North of Northamptonshire just off the A5199 near the villages of Guilsborough, Creaton, and Hollowell. Northampton Boat Club is a small boat club on the River Nene situated on the outskirts of Northampton. It was founded in 1911 and was originally called The Weston Boat club. We are a club run by the members for the members. We have a busy social calendar, including a sailing section for our younger members. We rely on our members to help us with organising events, running the bar and work parties. The boat club is situated on a small island, therefore space is limited, so at present we restrict boats to 40 foot in length or less.
We seek to foster and promote the sport of offshore cruising, and provide opportunities for social meetings, recreation and training. We have regular monthly meetings in the centre of Northampton and hold a variety of rallies and cruises during the year, usually from the south coast. Whatever your interest in sailing, from novice to yacht master, from boat owner to competent crew, you will receive a warm welcome.
Northampton Sailing Club is situated at Pitsford Reservoir and is an ideal venue for sailors of all ages and abilities. The reservoir, near the A508 north of Northampton, covers 450 acres so there is never any problem getting onto the water. The site slopes down directly to the water with access by concrete slipways. The Clubhouse has modern facilities, a galley run by professional caterers, a bar and a comfortable lounge.
Rugby & Daventry sailing club was formed in May 1945, on 16 hectares of Drayton Reservoir. We organise Dinghy sailing on the reservoir, with races on Sunday for most of the year and Thursday evenings in the summer months. Sailing courses are available at the club, which is an RYA recognised Training Centre, starting from complete beginner level. A variety of boats for children and adults are available for members to hire, easing the progression from first training course into active membership of the club and dinghy sailing.
The clubhouse has facilities for small children to play, a bar, function room and veranda overlooking the water as well as a fenced patio by the water”s edge. Social events are an important part of the club, with a range of events organised throughout the year.
We are a RYA training centre.
