South Yorkshire Sailing Clubs
Ulley Sailing Club is a small friendly sailing club located between Rotherham and Sheffield catering for both racing and casual sailing. Families are especially welcome and the emphasis is on enjoyment – not out and out racing.
We encourage class racing as much as possible but the diversity of boats means that most racing is on a handicap basis. For a class to qualify for its own fleet start there must be at least six registered boats and at present this applies to the Scorpion (15+) Streaker (12+) and Laser (6) classes.
We have a year-round programme of social events, including barbecues, bonfires and trips to external sailing events, but the heart of the club is sailing. We do our racing on Sundays and Thursday evenings, and we run training for members on weekday evenings. We also have a great Kids’ Club on Fridays, and a whole week of fun for the kids in August.
Based at the picturesque Damflask reservoir which although close to the industrial city of Sheffield is situated in the beautiful Loxley valley nestling in the eastern edge on the pennines. The lake has an area of 47 hectares and is owned and run by Yorkshire Water.
