The Teifi Boating Club, well known to all as the TBC is situated at the mouth of the estuary of the River Teifi, downstream from the market town of Cardigan and about four miles by road. The TBC has an active cruiser programme overseen by our Cruiser Captain. Events throughout the year vary from Passage Races, Cruising in company, Annual Regatta and a Summer series of 'Round the Cans' races (normally held mid week in the evenings). The TBC dinghy section tends to be part and parcel of the Youth section and sails throughout the year, water allowing, with safety boat cover.

The RCIYC was founded in 1862, as a Jersey yacht club, although there is no doubt that there were some Guernsey residents present from the beginning. For the next 92 years it so remained, with all decisions being made in Jersey and any member wishing to attend a club function, having to travel to St Aubin’s. However in 1954, the Guernsey membership, having grown to several hundreds, it was felt appropriate that this island should have its own premises, control over its own finances, and its own flag officers. Saving that the superiority of Jersey was maintained. Guernsey could have a Vice Commodore, who remained junior to the Commodore in Jersey. All resolutions passed by the Guernsey committee were subject to ratification although such ratification was never actually withheld.

Situated in a prominent position overlooking the busy port of St Helier, the capital of Jersey, the Club, now in its second century, enjoys an unrivalled view of local boating activity. Apart from the many social events organised throughout the year, there is a packed year-round sailing calendar that includes Coastal, Offshore and Inshore yacht racing and rallies. A competitive multi-class yachting fleet ensures excellent opportunities for crews to perfect sailing skills and take advantage of Jersey''s challenging sea conditions.

Etherow is a friendly club (when racing we experience good-natured rivalry!) and we welcome everyone: from those who may never have put their foot in a dinghy before, to Olympic team coach. Membership is inexpensive and we have some club boats that can be used, for a nominal charge, during the early stages. There are plenty of boats for sale within the club and elsewhere for very little money.

These pages are to give you an idea of the club, who we are, where we are and what we have to offer. The club has three main components:
An active dinghy racing section on the Mersey
A yacht cruising section based at the club
Social members who enjoy the club bar and a bit of sailing
Here we play host to the West Kirby Sailing Club, Falcon Fleet for a mid-summer regatta. Using the tides the competitors had sailed up the Mersey from their base at New Brighton.
