North Yorkshire Sailing Clubs
From its inception in 1971 Scaling Dam S.C. has been a thriving dinghy sailing club which has attracted families learning to sail in safety. The Club celebrated 25 years of sailing at Scaling in July 1996.
The venue is a also great place for windsurfing with good winds and ample grassed areas for rigging etc. Also, an increasing number of members now enjoy kayaking, canoeing and paddle-boarding at the club.
The Scarborough Model Yacht Club (SMYC) is a thriving, active and organised club with members of all age groups. We make these claims as we are now coming to the end of our third year with a healthy membership sailing two supported classes Dragon Force 65s (DF65), an entry level and cost effective craft that is ideal for beginners and the International One Metres (IOM) a very well established model that is sailed by enthusiasts world wide. Both of these classes are two of a number of International Class boats adopted by the Model Yachting Association (MYA).
Much more information can be found on the (click) MYA web site. SMYC was created for the purpose of supporting and promoting the sailing and racing of radio controlled wind powered model yachts for enthusiastic club members. It is hoped that there are, would be model yachtsmen, beginners or lapsed skippers in the area who are interested in joining us. We welcome anyone who whishes to visit, either to sail with us or just seek information, come and ask.
Inland reservoir sailing club in the heart of the yorkshire dales, a small family sailing club offering formal and informal board and dinghy sailing. The Cub is fortunate in owning a number of dinghies for members without boats to sail. There are 3 Toppers dinghies and 2 Optimists which were purchased using Lottery funding for which the Club is most grateful. There are also 2 Bosuns, 1 Mirror and a Splash dinghy.
Come and enjoy sailing and windsurfing on the largest reservoir in Yorkshire. A new state of the art clubhouse is due to open in August 2009, and all visitors and potential members are welcomed.
